Good evening everyone! My name is Ritika Chaunkaria and I was the Leader of the Day for today. Our wonderful day started with my special wake up call involving a loud-speaker blasting Punjabi music through the doors of my delegations’ rooms. It was to the likes of some, yet not to others; however I’m glad that the people who normally wake up later joined us much earlier than usual. So yay! 🙂 Now, going a little farther into the day, we ate breakfast at La Familiar as usual and had a little taste of home when we saw that we were being served Fruit Loops and Corn Flakes. Also, we finally had a chance to try the mangos here in Nicaragua and they were definitely one of the bright sides to my day.

Furthermore, as my delegation and I have approached the end of Day 2 of our Community Action Project, I must mention how impressed I am with the pace in which we are progressing towards our goal of building this classroom for our friends at Escuela Villa de La Cruz. One of the most beautiful things that we all have together as a delegation, is a sense of dedication to finish what we had set out to do as we were in the planning stages of our Community Action Project. When we have our nightly meetings, we go over our budget for the project, and if we see that we are falling short to complete what we need to do, we come together to donate what is required. We have willingly invested our time, money, and our hearts into this project for the kids, and we will definitely come together and overcome the obstacles that stand in our way, and that is what I value the most from my delegation.

Also, I’d like to give a huge thank you to all the volunteers who came out to support the Glimpsers in the CAP. We truly couldn’t have gotten this far without their help and we all voiced how much of a blessing they were to us.

Lastly, I’d like to say how much I enjoyed being the Leader of the Day on such a special day. Seeing the excitement on the faces of the students, faculty, and parents while we were building the classroom was worth every second. I am very proud of my delegation and everyone involved in this amazing project.

P.S. ~ Hi Mom, Dad, and everyone else! I miss you all very much and I am having a great time in Jinotega, Again, please water my plants!! And Dad, please make me butter chicken on the day I come back, much appreciated 🙂 I love you all very much and I hope you are all doing great. We’ll be in touch soon!
