Day 3, what a day! A field trip day with tons of fun planned for the day. The excitement began at breakfast time as pancakes were served and we could not be any more happier with this bit taste of home ๐Ÿ™‚

Quickly after breakfast we began our fieldtrip as we headed to stop #1, Castillo de Cacao. At Castillo de Cacao we learned about the history of this chocolate making factory and what makes it so different from other chocolates. Castillo de Cacao prides itself in hand-making chocolate that is chemical and preservative free. It is an organic chocolate that is made with all local ingredients. After learning about the history we got a tour of the factory where the females workers took us through each step of the chocolate making ย process. We even got a chance to grind, pack and taste the chocolate! Stop #1 was definitely a sweet one!

On to stop #2 of the field trip. We made it to the Casa of Mujeres del Plomo, where we not only learned about the 4 women who started this jewelry business, but also got to make our own jewelry. Las Mujeres del ย Plomo are a group of 4 women that make jewelry from seeds of local plants found in the region. They briefly shared their history and then assisted us with making our own jewelry. This was definitely a treat! We all got to make either a bracelet, necklace, earrings, or key chain.

Our last stop of the day was Cascada Blanca. This is an eco-lodge with a beautiful waterfall. Upon arrival we had lunch and then hiked around the jungle to get beautiful views of the waterfall. We spent the rest of the afternoon prepping for our first English tutoring session and enjoyed mother nature!

That’s it for today! Check back tomorrow after we have our first tutoring experience. Oh, and keep us posted on the Warriors game.
