Good night families,

Today was CAP (Community Action Project) day one. Our CAP consists of painting a primary school. Before heading to the school, we had a yummy breakfast that consisted of eggs, toast, rice & beans, sausage, and plantains. After breakfast, we did some mental warmup games. We played the marshmallow game and the big wind blows, and we ended it off with a sentence game where each person in a circle added one word (our sentence: Today I am a good sister, but I don’t like my brother because he went to the park). Once we finished our mental warmups, we rode the bus to the school and got to work. We were tasked to paint and sand two classrooms, the baños (bathrooms), and the field. We sanded and cleaned the bathrooms and completed both classrooms with one coat of paint. Before sanding and painting, we had to clear out the classrooms of the desks and boards and while doing so we discovered a snake that came out from behind a bookshelf. Time passed and it was now lunch time we ate noodles with ground beef, cabbage, and beans. After eating, we had a small break, so some people went to the playground and others got a head start to painting. the inside of the classrooms was drying so everyone moved outside. We finished a little early, so we left earlier than expected. We got to the base house for free time. Few people were playing cards, others were in the pool and the rest were chit-chatting. Then we had dinner rice, chicken and salad. For the nightly meeting before passing the torch, Julissa did a split and clover tongue and Avari spoke French and told a fun fact that she is related to two basketball players. Stay tuned for CAP Day 2!!
