Leaving Monkey Hut

Leslie and Morgan writing the blog!
Good evening from Granada! Today Glimpsers spent their day kicking it back at the Monkey Hut lagoon with the supervision of Granada’s very own firefighters, located in a crater in the Mombocho volcano. Students as well as the GG leaders got a break from the heat as they took a long and very much needed dip in the lagoon. Today’s word of the day was “bonding” which was appropriate seeing that today the delegation as a whole got to try new things and just experience a great time as a group. Naomi and Karishama for example, came out of their comfort zone with the help of several other Glimpsers and learned how to swim. What better way to learn how to swim then in beautiful Nicaragua? Along with the swimming we were able to take a nice ride on kayaks while others took a break and fell asleep on the hammocks over looking the beautiful view. While at the monkey hut we were introduced to the Estelli delegation from California and got to share experiences as we all continue this journey. Lunch today was priceless, great food while overlooking all the beauty. After lunch students continued to take advantage of the beautiful lagoon in front of them. We speak for everyone when we say we all took the opportunity to spoil ourselves with Piña coladas (virgin of course) on the water. As our trip to the monkey hut sadly came to an end even our GG leader Jadine had a hard time leaving. As we returned to the hostel to freshen up for dinner expecting to walk over to La Favorita little did we know we could hop right back on the bus as we made our way over to eat at Don Carlos restaurant. The group ended the night with their usual nightly meeting. All Glimpsers are currently drifting away in their dreams excited to jump into tomorrow’s adventure. Although we all wish for never ending weekends, we all have a very long yet fulfilling week ahead of us. Goodnight from all in Casa de roja!
p.s Hey mom, grandma, Kenny and Jackson! I can’t wait to see all of you. Hope everything’s not too quite in NY without me(; – Morgan

Wow. What a day. Sounds like a paradise. The area looks so lush and green and must have been a great respite from the Nicaraguan heat. We love hearing about the bonding, both with your hosts and with one another. And kudo’s to Naomi and Karishama, for having the spirit and courage to get into that lagoon!
Morgan, the entire city is quiet without you. And poorer for it 🙂
We’re just so thrilled you’re getting to experience all this and really do enjoy reading these blogs. But you are missed and we’re anxious to hear your first hand stories when you’re home.
