Hello friends and family! Today we woke up at 6:00, & then we woke everyone else up at 6:15. Everyone was pretty tired from yesterdays busy day & from running on about 5 hours of sleep, but we all managed to get ready and make it to breakfast on time. Before breakfast, we had to take head count and give a squirt of hand sanitizer to everyone. With tired eyes and yawns in the air, we all surrounded the table at 7:15 for breakfast. After eating our pancakes and eggs, we quickly applied sunscreen THEN bug-spray before leaving our Hostal for ADIC, an organization where students learn about music and art through play. Other than supporting children, ADIC educates women on how to defend themselves against sexual assault and works to protect the environment. At ADIC, we taught the children how to play the piano and danced with them. We also played several games, including “El Gato y El Raton” which all the children and Glimpsers enjoyed. Back at the Hostal, we had a living like a local seminar where we prepared for our living like a local day on Saturday. For lunch at 12:00 we ate beef with a side of rice and potatoes. We also had beet juice, which several glimpsers said tasted like the “earth”. After that, we had a human rights seminar taught by Silvan (he’s the best), where we auctioned off human rights, emphasizing the inequality faced by low income families. Later, we had our second CAP meeting, where we separated into groups to prepare for our CAP project. After planning the CAP project, we began to plan our lesson for English tutoring. At 4:45 we had chicken pasta before heading off to tutor at 5:45. We arrived home at 8:00 from tutoring and had our nightly meeting, where we discussed Education and the differences between Education in Matagalpa and the United States. Before going to bed at 11:00, Glimpsers played “Exploding Kittens” and “Uno”, while enjoying a snack of Nutella with toast.

Hi Bryant!
Happy you guys woke up a little later this day. However you still had a packed day! I wish I could hear the music played by the children, as I am sure it was beautiful. Then to work with the ADIC was awesome. The same issues are faced by many women around the world, great to see them working to protect them. How is the food? I hope you are eating well and absorbing all of the experience! Taste the food, listen to the people, look into the faces of the people and make sure you touch their spirit as I hope they are touching yours!
Love Aunty Christina
Amazing. I can’t believe the amount of work and experiences all of you are packing into such a short period of time (with such little sleep). Exhausted just reading the posts Looking forward to hearing more about ADIC .Hoping we can find ways to support these schools and organizations you have all been working with . Glad that you are working directly in community initiated programs to tie all of the information, history and experiences together. Fantastic. Keep on, enjoy, reflect, missing you Mari! xo m, d, k, m,d
Hi Mads-
Daddy and I were so happy to hear your voice today. So exciting. We loved hearing all of your little stories and cant wait to hear more. Still so bummed about your camera. Maybe someone can take a look at it and see if they can get it to work. If not you can try to use your memory card in another camera if possible. Hassels Dad was working on trying to get one to you. Maybe you found one while you were shopping! Are those music instruments the kids are blowing into? That look interesting and so fun. Love and miss you. See you soon. oxox Love, Mom and Dad and Charlie who is sitting by my head snoring.

Hi Claire. Mom and I went and saw Grandmother and Mercha on Saturday night. We talked about your trip and Nicaragua politics of the last 40 years or so. Mercha was very interested in your trip and what you and the Global Glimpser were doing. It’s great to see your blog. You all seem very busy and hopefully you have the time to reflect on all you are experiencing. I am glad you have had the opportunity to use your Spanish with teaching the kids who do not know any English. I would think it would be very fun and rewarding. Mom and I went to the coast on Sun to escape the heat and came back yesterday. We stopped at Armstrong Redwood park and walked around. Super tall trees, similar to Muir Woods but smaller. Reminded us of the times in the Sequoia’s with you and Nicholas. It’s great you are having this experience yet we miss you too.
Love Dad.
