Hello Parents, Friends, Family Members, Cats, Dogs, Fish, “Plants” (lol Gaelle)!

Today we woke up at the bright and early hour of six thirty (much earlier than we would if we were home). We had a lovely breakfast of (“big surprise”) gallo pinto and eggs then immediately got on a bus and headed to ALDEA SOS, a local orphanage. Although a very sad place to be, it turned out to be a really fun visit. Last night we were informed that we had to make a powerpoint presentation about American culture that lasted forty five minutes, but not until the late hour of eight thirty. It took a lot of motivation (and arguing) but it got done and the kids ended up loving it! We played some American music for them such as “Come Together” by the Beatles, “Black or White” by Michael Jackson, “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child, and (of course) “Work” by Rihanna. They also gave us a presentation about their culture which included a heartfelt rap that touched us all. Then we got a couple hours of free time after lunch where some parents received calls from us (throwing shade to those who didn’t answer – from Tommy). At four we started our second day of tutoring which lifted and woke us all up. Everyone agrees that teaching has been such an enriching part of our trip and we cannot wait to keep it up for the next couple weeks.

To Betsy, Tim, Kellyanne, Ryan, Spencer, and (of course) my Tasha Pooter-

Dear Diane, Dave, Quinton, and Oli-
I’ve been missing you all the past two days but I’m enjoying my time here and making a lot of new friends. Happy Birthday to Oli-Pops! I hope you had a good 4th of July and I hope Quinton played with Oliver (I know he probably did). Be expecting a call from me on Friday (it’s our free day). Love you all.
xoxo, Sierra
