Today, the two of us woke everybody up at 7 AM, by banging on their doors till someone opened the door. everyone had a little less than an hour to get up and get ready before we had to go to breakfast at Imabite. After breakfast, we headed back here to the hostel and had about an hour for English Tutoring preparation followed by two very important CAP seminars. In the first seminar we brainstormed ideas on that we can do for our CAP to help out the Special Education School Angela Morales Aviles. We decided on fixing their school bus as a priority. This because they are currently having to borrow a bus that is too small causing them to have to take three trips back and forth to get all the kids, to and from the school. Also, we decided that painting the plain rooms in the school and fixing the trail will be something we also contribute to the school because of the impact we believe it will have years form now. In our second CAP seminar we planned out who would be in which committees in order to execute our project as orderly an efficiently as possible. We came up with committees such as management, creativity, construction and architecture for the trail, and a bus committee that consists of Ambrose teaming up with others to diagnose the problem with the bus.

After, we went off to lunch at Imabite as we do most days. When everyone was done with lunch, we headed out to Colegio Modesto Armijo. Our journey there was quite interesting. That is because our GGLs and PR announced that we will be taking public transportation as to get the feel of the high school students here that take it everyday. As expected, the bus got really crowded when all 24 of us hopped on with the locals. We took two busses on the way and on the last bus, the driver was blasting music that we all recognized and made the bus ride even more memorable. After arriving to the school, we listened to the principal speak about the school, education, and the importance of  the new generation of leaders. After his talks, each Glimpser was paired up with an 11th grade student. We all went to the different classes that the students had and got to sit in their class, and even had the chance to help them in their English class. After about 3 hours of shadowing, we unfortunately had to say our “goodbyes” to our partners. We had the same journey back from the school back to the hostel.

Back at the hostel, we quickly changed and grabbed our materials for tutoring. Then we headed back to Imabite for dinner. After dinner, we  went to English Tutoring as we do every week night now. In the two hours of tutoring we were pleased that we had more students join our classes, more that we had in the past nights. This being the third night of tutoring, the tutors had better sense into knowing what works and what doesn’t work in their classes and just being more prepared overall. We then returned to our hostel for a nightly meeting that went on longer that usual, so our lights out got pushed 30 minutes back which allowed for more socialization within our group.

Overall, today was a very long but another eye opening day and a lot of the Glimpsers made new frends with their shadowing partners at school.

Can’t wait for more days like this!
