Hola Familia y Amigas!
For Final Reflection Day, we had a lot of different activities that were all well spent in an exhausting day. To start off our adventurous day we went to La Playa Hemingway de Juan Dolio, the beach. We played in the clear Caribbean waters and got to see the beautiful scenery. We bought souvenirs from local sellers, who may or may not have had overpriced prices. Some examples of souvenirs were bracelets, necklaces, wooden animal statues, and anklets. Then, we went across the street to a souvenir shop with a wider variety, which was unfortunately way more expensive than typical “touristy” options.
After eating lunch, we attended the house inauguration, in which we were interrupted by our bus’s AC breaking down (bummer). Eventually, we got there safely with the windows open. The house inauguration was for familia Lima Cappellan, which was the house we worked on for our CAP project and was in construction for 3 months. We were the only Global Glimpse group this summer that had the opportunity to participate in this special moment, where familia Cappellan can finally move into their home. To celebrate after the ceremony, we enjoyed pastelitos, kipes and guava juice, Which are all traditional Dominican Foods. Lastly, we went out to dinner for pizza at El Concon with the whole group and ate Dominican desserts like flan. We finished our day off by sharing our big loves with everyone in our group and packing our bags for travel day! We will all miss the amazing staff, house, and most importantly the Dominican Republic as its time to say goodbye!

What a busy and interesting final day, particularly to attend the home inauguration! What a way to end a great trip.
Safe travels back home.
Can’t wait to hear the details.
Great job making the most of the trip and wrapping up something that will have such a great impact on the family and community. All the kids should be very proud of themselves. Thanks again Global Glimpse team for everything.
