First things first, today’s fun day is the last we’ll ever have on this trip. Being the leader of the day I wanted it to be a day to remember. At the same time, I wanted to make sure the schedule was followed and everyone was accounted for. After all, the group cannot have a fun day on a private island if we miss the boat ride or if we were literally missing somebody.
Anyways, the day started like any other. Wake up call was at around 7, we had breakfast a little later than 8, then we were off to a private island, yes, a private island, at around 9ish. So by bus we traveled a 15 minute or so drive to the port. From there the groupees and I, accompanied by our leaders and supporters, went on an about 10 minute boat ride to our final destination. The island, Pico de Garza, was surreal. Four pools, a trampoline, a volleyball court, football court, a lake, and a plethora of hammocks made the trip eventful. Furthermore, the island had one heck of a view of the Mombacho volcano. We pretty much scattered upon our arrival on the island. Some of us Glimpsers enjoyed the cold temperature of the pools. Some of us let our inner child free on the trampoline. Some of us enjoyed the scenery on a swinging hammock with a book or by simply closing our eyes for a while. Some of us including me enjoyed the many activities of the lake including kayaking and diving.
Lunch on the island was a little different; it was a bit close to home. Basically our Global Glimpse leaders Erin, Holly, and Valerie packed materials for us to make our own sandwiches. It was your casual bread, ham or turkey, cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and chips meal most of us are accustomed to back in the United States. Considering the fact that most of the group went back for seconds, lunch was a success.
After lunch, most of us continued the activities we did before, if not simply relaxed for the remainder of our time there. That lasted for about 4 hours, as around 4:40 we were on our way back to the hostel in the hands of our beloved driver Alfonso. We relaxed in the hostel for about an hour until around 6:15 we went out for dinner at La Favorita. There we ate a nice spaghetti and meatballs meal that made all of us clean our plates. Then, SURPRISE! Our favorite food provider Don Carlos not only provided us the great dinner, he arranged a fiesta for today’s birthday girl Dorothy Nguyen. It was set to a theme of Disney’s Frozen. It had everything from a piñata, a cake, to a wide variety of party games like musical chairs and simply dancing. After enjoying the party and showing love to Dorothy, we headed back to the hostel for our nightly meeting.
That brings us here, to the end of the nightly meeting, to me writing this blog. It was a pretty fun day, otherwise the name of the day, Fun Day, would be something different. Two more days, and we’ll be back home soon.
Aww… It’s so nice, so sweet of all of you!

“Today is the greatest
Day I’ve never known
Can’t wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I’ll tear my heart out
Before I get out….
………..
Today is the greatest
Today is the greatest day
Today is the greatest day
That I have ever really known.”

“En el mar la vida es más sabrosa
en el mar te quiero mucho más
con el sol, la luna y las estrellas
en el mar todo es felicidad
Te verás bañada por las olas
y serás sirena de mi amor
hallarás amor entre sus aguas
y tendrás del mar su inspiración ….”
