Hey parents and friends, it’s Diamond and Brianna and today we were the leaders for fun day. We all woke up at 6:00am and got on the bus by 7 to prep for a very tiring bus ride. Our first stop was after two hours and was at the gas station. Students were allowed to buy snacks and take care of business. We continued our long travel to Mercado de Artesanias, a tourist attraction where we were allowed to purchase souvenirs, while at the attraction we bargained with vendors to lower the cost of the initial item. There were very persistent vendors who attempted to sell sunglasses after we declined time after time.

After buying souvenirs at Mercado de Artesanias we continued our travel to Tip Top, a fast food restaurant, where we were able to eat French fries and chicken wings. We took our food to-go and continued our long bus ride until we reached the main attraction, Monkey Hut. (On our way there we stopped to view a monkey in the trees!) Monkey Hut is a lagoon created by a volcano that exploded and created a crater. Today it is a sleeping volcano.

We had the option of either swimming with friends, kayaking with friends, or relaxing in a hammock and enjoying the weather/view. Everyone on the trip bonded with each other while playing fun games in the water, and just enjoying a day to have fun. After a long day of excitement and fun we traveled on the bus for about 3 hours back to the hostel. We were further surprised to find out that we would have pizza for dinner. Everyone was excited to have a little taste of home and something different to switch up the daily routine of rice and beans. We concluded today with our routine nightly meeting before having free time and eventually bedtime. Overall today was a very adventurous because of the places we traveled and the activities that we were able to do. This day will be forever remembered by everyone because of the bond we shared as a familia.

Shout out to my mom, my dad, my grandma, and my aunt for supporting me to come on this trip and believing in my potential. Love Brianna <3

Shout out to Tania, I love you mom! 😉
