The waterfalls from Cascade Blanca

The waterfalls from Cascade Blanca

Families and friends!

Fun day was a success! We started our day with an early wake up call around 7am. Which gave us a ton of time to get ready for breakfast which would start around 8am. We were served gallo pinto, eggs, and bread. I would say it was a very filling breakfast. We finished lunch before 9am, which was the time we were going to begin our very first fun activity for the day. We were planned to go to Castillo del Cacao, which was basically a chocolate factory where cocoa is naturally grinded and sold. We loaded onto the bus and made our way to the factory. But first we had to go pick up the two red cross workers to come assist us for the rest of the day. After we picked those two up, we sang our way to the chocolate factory and we were finally there.

When we made it, we had to hike a bit up hill to get to the entrance, and when we got there we were kindly greeted by one of the main workers in that factory. She explained to us how the chocolate that were made there were completely natural and no artificial ingredients were added other than sugar. It was truly an interesting tour, we learned how to grind cocoa beans, how machines worked, and how the packaging was made for the chocolate. We even got to try out and buy many of the chocolate here, which was surprisingly cheap. Afterwards we left the chocolate factory after spending a couple hours there, and we made our way to Cascada Blanca, a famous waterfall in Matagalpa, known for its legends of spirits.

Once arriving to Cascada Blanca, we got a tour of the place and we ate our amazing lunch which consisted of chicken, pasta, nachos, and salads. Everyone was having an amazing time talking with each other while eating our delightful food. After our lunch we explored the waterfall and visited the cave underneath the waterfall, taking many pictures of course. After about 30 minutes we started following the water stream and climbing on top of many rocks. Eventually towards the end we hiked together and visited an enchanted lagoon. After we got back into the bus and headed back to the hostel.

Once we got back into the city, we went to our hostel and had some free time to get ready for dinner. For dinner today, we went to a pizzeria where we were treated to some amazing pizza with refreshing drinks. Eating with each other was a blast! But there was a point where we had to wait a whole 45 minutes for Shayla’s vegetarian pizza to come. It wasn’t too bad since we all had a good time communicating with each other and having food eating contests. After dinner we went back to have our nightly meeting and Christian and me passed on the torch to Shivani for tomorrow’s free day theme. Tune in for Shivani’s blog tomorrow night!
