¡Hola Global Glimpsers and families! My name is Kel (he/they), and I am one of the two leaders on the Costa Rica trip in June.
A little bit about me: I’m a Chicago transplant via Kansas City. My two favorite sports teams are the Kansas City Royals and the White Sox (even though they’re technically rivals). I’m an avid bike rider and will ride throughout the winter as long as it’s not snowing. My favorite drink is either iced coffee or a lime flavored Bubly.
Professionally, I’m an ESL (English as a second language) teacher in Chicago. I’ve taught students from 20 different countries. Before I was a teacher, I worked as a summer camp counselor for 5 years with people as young as 4 and as old as seventeen both in KC and Chicago. I’m so excited for this summer as it’s a chance for me to merge my different passions of working with young people and seeing them grow, learning about different cultures and people, and traveling to new places.
This is my first trip with Global Glimpse, and naturally, I’m a little nervous about remembering everything on my packing list. If you’re like me, I recommend printing out the list and checking items off as you pack and keep your passport in your hand! I am so excited to meet and get to know all you awesome leaders. I can’t wait for June 16th!
