¡Hola!

My name is Kimberly Leal and I graduated from UC Santa Cruz. I was born and raised in San Jose. I am not a teacher but I am constantly working with youth in my community. Last Year I worked for AmeriCorps – City Year and was placed at my old high school, William C. Overfelt. In addition to fulfilling my duties as an Americorps Member, I also supported and prepare 22 students for their trips through Global Glimpse. I am really passionate about spreading awareness about GG so that more students can take advantage of this amazing opportunity.

The reason why I wanted to be a Global Glimpse Leader was because the summer before my senior year of high school, I was in the same place all of you are now, excited and nervous about my Global Glimpse trip. I was a participant of GG in 2009 and traveled to Matagalpa, Nicaragua. My trip on Global Glimpse was life changing and thats an understatement. I instantly grew a passion for travel because I couldn’t wait to explore the world, meet new people, understand their cultures and lifestyles. Since my GG trip, I have traveled to 13 other countries and my plan is to travel to 30 counties before I am thirty years old.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to now be a Global Glimpse Leader this summer and help my all of you enjoy this rewarding experience as much as did. I’ve never been to the Dominican Republic but I am thrilled I will be sharing this new experience with all of you.

David (Co-GGL) or I will be contacting each of you individually so that we can check in and answer any questions you may have about the trip.

For now, please introduce yourselves to the group, a little about you, do you speak Spanish, & what you’re most looking forward to so we can all get to know each other before this adventure begins! I can not wait to meet you all ….let the count down begin!!!
