Hi there, Global Glimpsers and families! My name is Connor Fox (he/him), and I am one of your Global Glimpse Leaders (GGLs). I’m so excited to meet y’all and am looking forward to getting to know you and seeing you grow during our 14 days in the Dominican Republic!

This will be my first trip ever with Global Glimpse, and I’m thrilled to share this adventure together. I frequently travel inside the U.S. every year. I’m originally from Birmingham, Alabama, and frequently fly back south several times a year to visit family and friends. In the past couple of years, I’ve traveled out west to Portland, Oregon, and Denver, Colorado, as well as trips to New Orleans (one of my all-time favorite cities), Philadelphia, Miami, and Washington, D.C. I have only traveled internationally twice before: once to London, England in high school for a marching band trip and last summer to Costa Rica, which marked my first trip ever to Central America and a Spanish-speaking country. It was absolutely beautiful and amplified the power of traveling for me—especially considering how important it is to become a globally conscious citizen and educator.

For the past seven years, I’ve taught high school English in the South Bronx. I absolutely love what I do and am so excited to take that passion outside of the classroom for this immersive experience. When I’m not teaching, I love listening to music at all hours of the day, drinking my daily cup of cold brew, and discussing all-things pop culture (I’ve recently experienced almost all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have a lot to say), playing music trivia and Wordle, as well as reading/watching/listening to content about some of my passions like music, history, teaching, The American South, social justice and all kinds of storytelling. If I’m not taking in that content, my extroverted self always loves spending time with family and friends. I’m looking forward to hearing all about your interests and passions, too! Get ready for one incredible journey.

Can’t wait to see you on June 29!!

Big love,

Connor
