Hello my fellow Nicaraguan travelers! My name is Pam Johnson and I will be one of your GG leaders on our amazing trip to Nicaragua starting July 1st! I am so very excited about this trip and meeting all of you. First, a little about me, I grew up near Chicago and attended the University of Illinois. While at U of I, I studied abroad and caught the travel bug! After finishing university, I moved to England and taught in a small town north of London for 4 years. While there I traveled a lot of Europe including but not limited to the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Croatia, Netherlands,
Belgium, Slovenia, Switzerland, Italy, Hungry, Czech Republic, Austria, Turkey, Australia and Morocco. I moved back to Chicago with my husband in 2012 where we live in Wicker Park with our dog, Luke. I love trying new food, nerd-ing out to all things science and helping to foster rescue animals. In my 9 years in education, I have taken students backpacking in the mountains of Poland, sightseeing in Paris, on a cultural excursion to Madrid and a service learning trip in Costa Rica. I have seen first hand the truly transformation experience that can happen when students travel abroad and can’t wait to experience Nicaragua with you!
Hi Pam, My son August is getting excited about the upcoming trip. We were trying to get some material/worksheets for the tutoring sessions together. Do you know what age group they will be working with? Thanks, Nancy
Hi Nancy,
It will all depend. We could have very young children through to adults. Some of the learners will be just starting in English and some have been learning English for a few years. Anything for learning introductory English (Kindergarden-2nd grade) will be useful but because of the wide range, anything you have will be great! Let me know if you have any specific questions and thanks for reaching out!
Hope everyone arrived safely!
