Our trip is Leon, Nicaragua is less than two weeks away and we cannot wait for our adventure to begin! Until then, here’s a little background on us…

Enjoy!

A few words from Daniel…

Hey, I’m Daniel! I’m an English teacher at Cupertino High. I’m originally from Davis, CA and never thought I’d be a teacher. I graduated from USC with a degree in English and thought becoming a teacher would be so cliché. So instead I started to work in publishing. But the more I started volunteering in schools, the more I loved it, and finally decided to get my masters and teaching credential from Stanford in 2013. I love teaching and I’m excited to meet you all. In my travels, I worked in China for a year, studied in Spain for a semester, and visited other countries, so I’m especially excited that you all will have the chance to travel internationally while still in high school. Outside of school, I love playing soccer and trying new foods. This has been an especially memorable summer break for me because my wife and I got married earlier this summer.
I applied to participate in Global Glimpse because I wanted to give students the same types of opportunities I’ve had to travel abroad, but to let them do it at an earlier age in high school. I’m looking forward to visiting places and learning more about how the products we consume on a daily basis in America, like chocolate and coffee, get produced first in Nicaragua.

A few words from Elly…

Hi, I’m Elly! I’m an Independent Leader for Global Glimpse. I was born and raised in a small, rural town in the Central Valley (and recently moved back after two years in the Bay Area!). I graduated from Fresno State with a bachelors in Mass Communication. After realizing my passion for the educational field, I decided to get my masters from University of San Francisco’s School of Education. I’m now working on receiving my teaching credential and aspire to be an elementary school teacher. This is my fourth international adventure. Outside of work and school, I enjoy crafting, exercising and spending time with my family and friends.

Becoming a Global Glimpse leader was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I jumped at the chance to participate. I knew this opportunity would be especially meaningful as I experience traveling and serving in a developing country through the eyes of students, as they discover what it means to be a global citizen. My previous travels abroad have given me new perspectives on the world around me and I’m looking forward to sharing this experience with others.
