Today began with the pursuit for the answers to our QUESTIONS of the DAY: How has the history of Riobamba shaped its present? and How does the culture of a place inform its daily life? As we toured the downtown area of Riobamba we discovered how natural disaster, colonialization, and sheer human will can profoundly impact a development culture’s development.
After our usual DELICIOUS lunch with Signora Isabella we enjoyed learning some fabulous indigenous dance moves from many regions of Ecuador.
Finally was the most rewarding activity of all… watching students become teachers themselves. After splitting up into our specialized teaching groups, students began to review past lessons given to their classes by preceding Glimpsers. They now had to take the reins and begin to lesson plan for themselves. Ms. DeVico and I watched with pride as each and every student gave his or her all to the endeavor. We are so looking forward to watching the magic unfold in classrooms tomorrow. We see each student growing independently every day and it’s so inspiring… who are the teachers and who are the students again….???
