Hi, my name is Amy and I’m 2 days away from my trip to Riobamba, Ecuador! I’m from Northampton MA and I’m going into my senior year at NHS (Northampton High School). I love most outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, nature journaling, and visiting new places (one of the reasons I was so excited about this trip). I so far plan to major in biology and one of the things I’m excited to see are the different plants and animals native to Ecuador seeing that the climate is vastly different than the one I’ve grown up in.
I decided to go on this trip mainly to expand my knowledge of cultures outside of the ones I’ve grown up in. This is my first trip out of the country and I think it had the potential to greatly change how I see the world around me. Sure, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to take classes and programs that discuss different parts of the world but being able to actively view and take part in someone else’s day-to-day life is going to be an entirely different experience. I can’t wait to try new foods, see new people, and push myself out of my comfort zone for a new, special experience like this trip.
