Welcome to Granada’s nightly blog, my name is Fatima Martinez; fellow alumni from William C. Overfelt High School in San Jose, CA. Since it was free day, everyone had the chance to sleep in till 8:30. We then got ready and ate breakfast before heading out to do as we wished in the beautiful city of Granada. We bought souvenirs for our friends and family back home and also had the chance to get in the touch with them at the internet café. Time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to head back to the hostel for lunch.

After lunch, we had the opportunity to head back out for free time, however, most of us used the time to rest before heading to English tutoring. As for my group, we went to the nearby church and walked up the long flight of stairs to the bell tower to see the great view of the city from above.

English tutoring in the evening was exciting for all of us as we’re slowly bonding with our bright students. I gave my class a nice surprise by teaching them how to make origami hearts and played musical chairs in which the loser in each round would have to recite the ABC’s in English. They thoroughly enjoyed it.

After tutoring, we headed back to the hostel for dinner and nightly meeting. As the leader of the day today, I have realized how we have reached the last chapter of our trip and have all changed in different ways, which we will bring back home with us. Whether big or small, I believe the 17 of us, including our GGLs, has made a difference here in Granada. We dearly miss our loved ones that are waiting for us in the United States as we slowly start packing for Saturday. See you all soon.
