Today we woke up to a delicious Nicaraguan breakfast and a fun energizer activity. Later we prepared for our day of “History and Politics” with an academic seminar which jogged our memories about what we ever have learned about central American history. Needless to say, we all needed the lesson:) Next, we took a walking city tour where we saw the most prominent and important locations in the city. We learned a lot about the history of Nicaragua and the city of Matagalpa. After a good long walk, we arrived home to a tasty lunch and more exotic fruit juice……YUMMMMM. After lunch we had a guest speaker. We heard from a woman that fought in the Nicaraguan revolution and learned of her struggles and triumphs in bringing social justice to the people of Nicaragua. To say she is an inspiration is an understatement. We participated in a Q & A session with her and practiced a little of our Spanish.
This evening we took a quick ride to “El Calvario” which is a beautiful lookout point over the breathtaking city of Matagalpa. We enjoyed taking in the views and taking photos. We returned to yet another amazing meal and our nightly reflection meeting. We are all getting more acquainted with one another and having lots of fun. Stay tuned!
Thanks for posting, happy to have updates.

Rip, my first comment got deleted because my phone died. I have to start over. Anyways, That’s amazing how you guys were able to interview a Sandadista fighter! Its amazing how you can gain insight by hearing stories of someone actually fighting for their freedom and what they believe is right. Wish you guys could meet a contra fighter too since there’s always 2 sides on a coin. I was able to interview a contra fighter who believed he was fighting on the correct side. Every communist government in its history has abused it’s people, take away the right to become rich, and mass censorship. That this is no way to live. A sandadista point of view is that they’re fighting for land reforms and kick out any Anerican intervention it’s country. Both sides have very valid points that we need to take in consideration. In the future, this example should help you guys decide what is right, and understand the opposite side better. It’s always hard to decide what’s the best thing to do. Global glimpse teaches you to figure out your own decisions by analyzing and feeling empathy for others. After all, their motto is opening the eyes of tomorrow’s leader. I have full confidence that in our generation, we can help create a much better world by ending world hunger, arms limitation talks, decrease the poverty line, etc. Us Glimpsers especially. We hold the key to success (DJ Khalad), and with the power of empathy, patience, and hard work, this world will slowly establish true world peace. Anyways, good night Glimpsers. Hi to Lynna and Tiffany again ^__^. Hope you guys are having a unforgettable trip. Sorry for Le spam. Goodnight again!
