“Travel is never a matter of money, but of courage.” – Paul Coelho

Hello dear Glimpsers, parents, and GG Leaders!

As we count down the days to your arrival, we’d like to take a moment introduce ourselves and share with you what we’ve been up to here in Riobamba. Fernanda Ramos Díaz, your Site Manager, is a local riobambeña passionate about farming, good food and sharing her Ecuadorian culture. Your Program Coordinator, Steph Szuch, is a travel addict from Minnesota who knows firsthand the value of immersing oneself in foreign cultures. We are very excited for your arrival to this beautiful historic city to share with you our passions and accompany you on your journey of cultural understanding and self-discovery.

As we all prepare for this amazing experience, we’d love to hear what you’ve been up to! How are you getting ready for your trip? What are you most excited about?

Here in Riobamba, we have been busy little bees preparing for your arrival. We have been meeting inspirational community members, recruiting your English tutoring students, and visiting all of our activity locations. One of the most fun visits we did this past week was at the Chimborazo volcano, the highest mountain in Ecuador, which you will also get to visit during your trip! This activity will be an excellent opportunity for you to challenge yourselves and enjoy the some of the finest natural beauty Ecuador has to offer.

During your stay here you will see personal growth, find new passions, and create bonds that will last a lifetime. We are very happy to be able to join you all on this journey and cannot wait to start exploring with you!

As you pack your bags, don’t forget to include a good hat and sunscreen, the Ecuadorian sun is fiercer than you might think!

All the best,
Fernanda and Steph
