Hey students and teachers!
Our names are Victoria and Yelissa and we are the captains of San Juan’s Local Youth Ambassadors. We are 16 and 24 years old, and we enjoy spending time with friends, reading, dancing and listening to music and watching anime, read manga, study English and see movies in different languages respectively. We decided to join ourselves to the local Youth Ambassadors to practice English and to work with students from different cultures.
Youth Ambassadors are local youth (15-20 years old) who applied and were accepted into this program just like you. We have completed 4 trainings, in which we learned about Global Glimpse and helped the staff make the activities even more fun for you, worked on fundraising, participated in CAP and recruited students for English Classes! We volunteer with Global Glimpse because we want to give back to our community and share our culture and city with you. We are excited to teach English classes together, complete a Community Action Project, and hang out and show you around some of our favorite spots in San Juan on free days.
We have a great team of young Dominicans who are anxiously waiting for your arrival and are super excited to have an amazing experience with you all. We have been meeting and preparing for your arrival during four trainings in the last few months in order to make your experience in San Juan unforgettable. We’ve even been fundraising so we will be able to join you in many of the activities throughout your visit. I know that in the first interaction we may be a little bit shy, but that will soon disappear and long lasting friendships will be created.
