Today, on July 31st, we did many different activities, like touring the city of San Pedro de Macoris, shopping at the local store and gift shop, and having a dance class in the afternoon. We were the leaders of the day. In the morning, we could see and learn about the historical places in San Pedro, like an iconic church and murals of famous baseball players and other athletes. While doing the tour, we were also able to buy delicious ice cream. We returned back to Ascala and had a great lunch and then returned back to the city and were able to go shopping and have free time with each other. We returned with bags full of snacks and souvenirs to bring back to our family and friends.
For Dinner, we had cheeseburgers and french fries, and after that, we had a Bachata, Merengue, and Dembow lesson with Angelica. Angelica is a dance teacher, language teacher, and Global Glimpse partner from Monte Coca. We had lots of fun, and we learned the basics of these kinds of dance. This dance lesson and City tour allowed us to connect to the mixture of cultures and influences in Dominican Culture.

Sounds so fun! I’m sure the ice cream was super yummy, and the dance class was something new! Everyone looks so happy ☺️ And Anna!! I passed my Behind the Wheel Test yesterday!!! What a wonderful day! Dancing and shopping- sounds perfect! I hope you bought me something Juniper ? How is the ice cream in the DR? is it different then in the states? The sunset in the photo looks so pretty!! Learn lots!!

Thanks for the update Julianna and Ashley. San Pedro de Macoris is considered one of the most “Dominican” of cities so there are few better places for you all to dive deeper into the culture and it sounds like you got a great taste of that with the city tour and dance lessons. Can’t beat a day with a history lesson, dancing, and ice cream!!

Juniper, we did 10 miles of paddling down the Russian River today, so you sisters thought you’d be happy you were out of the country! Hope you all continue to have magical adventures!
