CAP Day 2 (No. 2)

Heyy guys,

Today was our second day of CAP! We decided to wake everyone up at 7:00AM with Keziah’s beautiful singing. Usually, we wake up to the sound of roosters and dogs barking but today was definitely different. Not all of us liked it… BUT it brought up the group’s energy a lot. Our breakfast consisted of pancakes, butter toast, pineapple, guava, scrambled eggs, and the option to drizzle chocolate and maple syrup on top. For those who didn’t want to eat pancakes or toast, they were given the choice to grab a bowl of Lucky Charms. Afterwards, we packed (late) into our truck and drove to the CAP site (Los Higos). We got there around 9:35AM and group 2 got straight to work. We kept the same 15-minute rotation from CAP Day 1 but fell out of sync with our rotation.

Shortly after, we went back to La Salle for lunch. Where we had rice and chicken, lentils, salad, and pasta salad for lunch. We were also treated with cinnamon rolls and dulce de coco. We headed back to the CAP site with even less people than we started with, but none the less we finished the day strongly because of an important after lunch meeting that covered the things we could all improve on during the first half of the workday. Today, was a bit challenging from start to end because most people experienced stomach discomfort. Which looked like fatigue, frequent breaks, loss of appetite, and low social batteries.

The second half of the workday went a lot smoother because of the meeting. We were all able to collaboratively and efficiently work in sync. The kids at Los Higos were very welcoming to us. Meeting us with embraces and lots of energy. We spent our breaks with los niños learning how to play hand games and sing songs. Later they chased us and each other with water guns and laughs. They were so appreciative of what we were doing for them that they gifted us with handmade bracelets, necklaces, and arts and crafts. After we were finished at the CAP site, we went back to La Salle and drafted letters of appreciation to Global Glimpse supporters. (To all the GG supporters, thank you!)
