Cap Day 2! (No. 5)

Hello to our families, friends, and supporters,

Today we had our second day of our Community Action Project in which we worked on Maire’s house. We were mixing cement, passing on the buckets, and overall using a great communication system. With our amazing team and collaboration with the Master Constructors, we were able to finish at 11:15 AM which was way before our lunch break! We are really proud that we learned communication is the key to success in our project and with all hands on deck we can finish quickly. Even though some of us hadn’t fully recovered from Day One, our commitment and passion for this project got us through it. It was a surprise to most of us that we worked so fast, but what came as more of a shock was that we were given the opportunity to have a nice snack with some Global Glimpse VIPs. We asked questions about the origin of the organization and gave our own inputs on our own experience as a Glimpser and outside interactions which we believe will go towards more progression towards this organization. The most inspiring people that the glimpsers met today were the VIPs, as the VIPs shared so much insight on various topics within the groups. This insight allowed for groups to share comedy, honesty, vulnerability, and expression of voice. Today, being Leader of the Day (Lider Del Dia) was a day of excitement, but also nervousness, as you had fun moments with peers, but also the panic of speaking loud to get your peers’ attention. But besides these emotions, Leaders of the Day find out their personal strengths and weaknesses and how they can translate to work or other people.

What we Learned about our Selves Today

1. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable
2. It’s always great to speak up even when you aren’t a leader
3. Communication is key

From Thing 1 and Thing 2, we had a great time being leaders today, we will for sure keep the energy up for the rest of our time here. That being said we are passing the torch onto our next two leaders who you will hear from tomorrow! Keep the comments coming as always
