Colin Schreiner Introduction Post!

Hello all!

My name is Colin Schreiner, and I will be one of the Global Glimpse Leaders on our trip to Costa Rica! I am looking forward to meeting all of you and starting our journey together!

This is my first trip with Global Glimpse, although I took a similar style of trip in high school to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands that I still look back very fondly on, so I am thankful I have the opportunity to take part as a leader! I have been very fortunate to have had the chance to travel to 19 countries thus far (this will make an even 20!). I am a Bay Area native, born and raised in Silicon Valley, but I also called North Carolina home for 7 years for college (Davidson College, go Wildcats!), work in the College Advising Corps, and grad school (go Tar Heels!). I’m a big fan of stories, particularly fantasy and sci-fi stories, whether they are in book, movie, show, or video game form.

I teach World History, so traveling to other places is a pretty easy argument to make. History is the story of us, of people, and much like any other story, if you only follow one plotline, then you can miss out on so many potential characters and narratives. Learning about new perspectives and experiences is the best way to truly understand history and to see how it can still affect us in the modern day.
