Community Action Project (CAP)

Hola, everyone,

Today, we were able to sleep in a bit as we woke up at 7am instead of 6:30, which is our usual wake-up time. Then, we had a lovely breakfast made by Angie, our head chef who is responsible for our food. Our breakfast was a bread toast with eggs stirred with vegetables and a side of passionfruit juice. After that, we were visited by Findlay Mulligan, a Peace Corps volunteer working in a small town called Bajos de Menchaca, Ocú. He presented what he does, why he´s doing it, some benefits he acquired, and the challenges he faces daily. Afterward, we had our lunch and went to a local school, Panamá CARE, for kids to get to know our CAP that we are going to be focusing on for the rest of the trip. Panamá CARE is a primary school for low-income kids who are between the ages of 0-5. Fortunately, we´re not going to fix the roads and work on cement. We´re painting a mural on the walls of the school to decorate and make a welcoming and fun atmosphere for the kids. When we came back to the hotel we held a seminar to discuss what our vision is for the mural and who will be painting which walls. After some heated debate, we came to an agreement and separated into three groups to work on the sketches that we are presenting to the Principal and teachers of the school. We returned to the hotel and left shortly to go on a Chitré City Tour. We stopped at a restaurant, La Bruja, to get smoothies and continued the tour. After finishing the tour, we returned to La Bruja and had an even lovelier dinner.

Bye til next time,

Ujin

Meeeeeeeoooooowww! I like murals muchly. I especially like sitting on a high high perch to see the pretty colors. Will there be cats in the mural. If so, will they look like me? Every mural is make better with cats… especially bat cat.

Looks like everyone is keeping very busy and starting out early before it gets too hot with that high humidity. Really enjoying the Google photo feed that is shared!

Awwww! Y sigas viajando. Conociendo culturas y
Estilos de vida. Besos desde mi corazón para el tuyo. Atte: yo tu mamá
