Hi Everyone!!! This is Sidra and Sahian. It was a great experience being leaders of the day. For me, Sidra, it was a helpful opportunity for me to push myself in talking to more people within our little Glimpser family, I got to know people better while doing the meditative job of painting many walls. I did juggling as my talent to “pass the torch” and me(Sahian) I did a zapateado jaliscience.
Today we had a really productive and fun day on the second day of our project. We got to continue working on the local school at escuela Eslabon which was really great especially seeing everyone get involved. We painted the gym floor to represent a soccer field for the kids, we also painted their lunch room and bathroom some nice blues to spice up their environment. Everyone got together throughout the work to collaborate and create a better environment for the kids and along with it we had music to help with motivation and that helped keep everyone entertained especially through the heat and humidity. The work was hard but don’t worry, we got fed! We had some scrumptious snacks of fruits and granola bars before a nicely made lunch from the school cook, Sonia. It was chicken, rice, beans, and salad which was delicious. We are forever grateful for her, and the bus drivers providing for this experience.
After the hard days work, we were quite tired. We got back to base camp just in time when the rain started to pour. The scene of the gray clouds over the volcanos was spectacular to look out at, we took some cool pictures on our cameras. We settled down into our cabins, some played card games, some napped, and others took a much needed shower. After all that we surprised everyone with a pizza night and game night!!! We’re happy to say it was a hit and everyone enjoyed it but it also would not have been possible if it weren’t for Liz and the rest of her family spending the time making delicious meals for all of us so we’re also very thankful for her and her family. Now as we are writing this, the others are having their game night, an interactive game of sardines in progress…
With this new layer of confidence and familiarity with leadership in this group of people, we are excited for the following days to keep expanding our knowledge of Costa Rica, as well as others and ourselves.

My heart and face smile with all the wonderful experiences you all are having, not to mention the clearly delicious food, which I think each one of you has waxed eloquent about in the posts. I’m so excited to hear how your family is expanding with all the people you are enjoying this time with. I look forward to hearing about so many more of the snippet stories that are making up your time in Costa Rica. We miss you and love you. The verdant owl is being cared for.
