Culture Day (No. 3)

Hello families, this is Leslie and Jasmin the first Leaders of the Day.

Today’s day was based on culture. We had an early morning which started at 6:30 am. We started our adventure at a local Bakery in Herrera Provencia named La Medalla Milagrosa. We got to eat bread, chicken or pork and a piece of fresh cheese served with a morning drink called Chicheme. Everything was really tasty, and we even got to make our own bread to take as a snack for the day. Don Orlando and Jamilet also showed us around their bakery and gave us advice on how to build a business. He was very PASSIONATE. The second activity of the day was to paint a plant pot. We got to go to Don Lucrecio’s pottery shop which was a very nice experience because he showed us how to create a pot out of clay with a spinning machine. Everyone got to show their artistic skills on their pot. It was our first time to ever paint one and we would recommend having that experience if you have not already.

Our lunch was at the hotel, and we ate rice, lentils, and steak with potatoes with a side of salad. We also got a really delicious passion fruit drink (Agua Fresca). After lunch, we had our free time and most people took the opportunity to take a nap for at least 30 minutes because it was an early morning.

The last activity we had a Chitre tour around the Plaza and got to see really pretty parks. The tour helped us understand their culture and activities around the city. Once the tour was over, we headed to La Bruja Restaurant and ordered delicious smoothies to get a break from the long walk. After our break, we walked back to the Hotel and ate dinner. The dinner that Angie (our personal cook) prepared for us was Paracones with grilled chicken paired with a traditional orange drink with fresh honey named Naranja Acida. We then had our nightly meetings, during which we got to introduce the next Leader of the Day, who is going to be Christian!
