Heyyyy everyone, Karizma and Lauren here giving y’all a breakdown of our final CAP day. Today we started off with breakfast, that being mangu (pumpkin, squash, and onions), scrambled eggs with sausage, watermelon, and pineapple as always, and last but not least our drink of choice: Lemon iced tea (Karizma’s favorite), and orange juice. After breakfast, we cleared the tables off and put the remaining food away. Shortly after we split ways, Karizma led a 10-minute yoga practice with some of the Global Glimpsers, while Lauren led a book club with the remaining Glimpsers on the front porch.
Then, we headed straight to the CAP construction site, but not before doing our daily karaoke session on the jungle bus. When we arrived we got straight to work and began creating concrete for the final portion: THE PORCH. After a couple of hours and a generous amount of water breaks, we finished the day off with a cheer and celebration with Sprite, Coca-Cola, and Dominican crackers. A special Glimpser was rewarded for his hard work with a personal Panama jersey from one of the community members.
After a hard morning full of work we headed back to our beautiful ranch to wash away the day’s dust, and prepare for our biggest reward yet – ice cream, and a swim in a WATERFALLL!!! (ayyyeeeee). We stopped to receive our ice cream first, Lauren got fruit punch flavor (super duper FYE), and Karizma got chocolate (can’t go wrong with that). Eventually, we rode to the waterfall in our guagua de la selva (jungle bus in Dominican) and hiked up a scenic view of all of the mountains and trees for half a mile. We spent an hour swimming and admiring the waterfall by taking plenty of photos. Lauren acquired 2 beautifully formed rocks for her beautiful nephews (Hi DJ and Dylan!!!).
Next, we traveled back home for the SECOND time and ate a SCRUMPTIOUS dinner, with not 1 but TWO different pastas, along with the usual fruit and drinks. Furthermore, after dinner, we had our nightly meeting/clique up in which we went over the following day’s agenda, and passed the leadership torch to the new Glimpsers (you’ll hear from them tomorrow, stay tuned lol.) And now we’re here, thanking you all for tuning in to OUR bloggggg post. Goodnight, and see you REAL soon.
XOXO,
— Lauren and Karizma
