Omoeghie and Mieko woke up in unison and glanced at each other in the mirror. We saw each other’s eyes sparkle and were ready for the day. We woke up our peers in the Villa. We chopped it up with the chef Diego to ask what the day’s chow was. He played us some cumbia and we bussed it down. Today’s breakfast consisted of French toast, eggs with or without onion, fruit, yogurt, coffee, guanabana, and fruit punch as our assorted drinks. At 8:45 we headed to the school to start our third day of our CAP project. While we waited for instructions we played the pattern game and duck duck goose to get us energized and hypedddd. After a couple of rounds of each game, we split the group up into people working on cement and people painting. Since it was the last day, painting consisted of fixing up lines by making them straighter. Outside group 2 smoothed out the cement pathways. We listened to various types of music including Brandenburg Concerto No.3. It was FIREEEEE . We kept up our work until 12 when we walked back to the villa to have our lunch. Since it was Saturday, we couldn’t eat lunch cooked at the school by the school staff. For lunch, we had pork chops, potatoes, salad, passion fruit, and soursop as our juices. After we finished, we headed back to the school at 1. We locked in, pushing through the sweat, until 3 pm when we had finished up our “Ohio” work. We then cleaned up our brushes and our supplies and wheeled all of our things back home. Once we were home we were allotted 15 minutes to call our family and loved ones. At 6 we gathered for dinner which was a Do It Yourself burrito with pork and chicken as meat options, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños as add one. For juices, we had blackberry juice and guanabana. After dinner, we packed for tomorrow, and then we had our nightly meeting. We wrote letters to Global Glimpse supporters and reflected on our day. After we ran to the living room to watch the end of Maze Runner 3, since we missed it yesterday due to an “Ohio” power outage. After we had downtime until lights out at 9:30, then went to bed at 10:00.
Hi Mommy, Baba, and Enike!!! It’s me Omoeghie. Today was my LDD day, and it was pretty tiring. We had to really stand up and be the best leaders we could in order to have a productive final CAP day to complete all of our tasks. Being a leader on a CAP day was not easy, but working with a like-minded individual made it better. Having to keep our energy high in order to motivate the group so we could do a great job on our project was daunting. However, utilizing our creativity and helping one another to be great leaders made it easy.
Hi Momma, Daddy, Mateo, and Mitra, it’s Mieko! Today I was a leader. It was really fun but also hard, it was a lot more to think about. I’m very glad I got to do it with Omoeghie. Being a leader was something I’m not as used to, it made me realize how much easier it can be to just be told what to do, and not be responsible for a big group of people. This was a really fun exercise in maturity and independence, and a practice doing something I’m sure I’ll have to do more of in the future. It was stressful not knowing what to do at first but as the day progressed I found myself falling into the role more and leading became easier.
Thank you for reading our blog, I hope the next LDD isn’t “Ohio”! lol
