Day 12 – CAPping it off

Hello! Today was day 12 of our trip and the third and final day of the community action project. After waking up and eating breakfast, we headed over to the community and split into two groups. One for painting and one for pouring gravel around the newly finished benches. We made a collective playlist and listened to some awesome bangers while hard at work.

After exerting ourselves, we headed back to our accommodation for a lunch break. Later in the afternoon, we went back and applied the finishing touches to the benches. We then placed cinder blocks in the middle allowing for a tree to grow and hopefully provide much-needed shade. Around 3 pm, the benches were finished and we admired our hard work while snapping some pics.

When we came back, we had a seminar. We then broke into small groups where we reflected upon our past few days of work. We then enjoyed free time where one of our peers, Dhruv, held a martial arts class for us to learn more about one of his passions. We practiced throwing punches! Then we enjoyed tacos with cheesy chips for dinner, yumm!

Following our terrific meal we had our nightly meeting where we talked about the highs and lows of our tedious day. By that time, everyone began to wind down. As bedtime approached, people played cards and hung out with each other until it was lights out at 11 pm. Sweet dreams!
