Hi Global Glimpse families!
Today was a very full and fun day. After a nice breakfast students went on a city tour. We went to the Plazoleta where we learned about Dominican history and how they celebrate the three main leaders Sanchez, Duarte, and Mella.
After the plaza, we passed the city hall and the police station to end up at the fire station where we were welcomed by the Bomberos Fire Department. Lieutenant Ramirez explained the origin of the fire station and fielded questions from the group. He also talked about how firefighters came together to help with the wildfire at Vallenuevo. Students had an opportunity to try on gear, sit in the firetruck and go down the fireman pole. What a blast!
Then we met “El Gato” who helped us create our own masks out of clay. Each of us chose unique features for our mask and personal creativity shown. El Gato explained the process in Spanish through art there was no language barrier.
After the masks and a delicious lunch we walked under the pouring rain to our dance class.” Paul la Salsa” entertained us with his smooth and funky moves of merengue, salsa, reggaeton, and bachata. Students joined in with gusto and showed off all their moves! It was a lot of fun and everyone took a chance and danced their hearts out.
Students back to the hotel and had some free time: card games, friendship bracelets, reading books, journaling, and drawing. After dinner, the big surprise was ICE CREAM! Students had their nightly meeting, mingled a little bit more, and went for a good night’s sleep for a very busy next day.

Looks like a super fun day! Looking good in that Firefighter Fit Nevin. What’s going to happen with those clay masks now that they’re finished? (just as a side note: the resolution was not great on the photos in today’s post. It was better on the first day’s post. When zooming in i lost quality. Hoping there’s some way to rectify this. Thanks)
