We completed day 2 of our trip! In day 2 we started off our morning with eggs, bread, cheese, juice, and water. After we talked about what were going to do for the day we got on a safari bus and went to the town! Once we got into town, we visited some important places. We started at the Fire Station where they showed us around, let us jump down their fire pole, took a closer look at the different fire trucks, and ended with a presentation of how they used the water hose. We were able to compare how similar and different our Fire Stations and workers are from home.
After the Fire Station, we took a little tour of the City Hall, supermarket, restaurants, ice creamery, and coffee house. Once we had completed we then headed out to the Bahios Campo. At Bahios Campo we learned about the yuca plant and ate some cassava, which is made from yuca! We also learned about the coffee and chocolate-making process and how much time and effort goes into making the delicious food and drinks that we consume in America. After we tried the homemade coffee and cassava, we ate a traditional lunch and presented them with a gift!
We then headed back to our house for a well-deserved break. They swam, rested, read, and patiently awaited our dance instructor. Finally, our dance instructor arrived and he taught us merengue and bachata!
Our day 2 was almost complete! We finished our day with dinner and our nightly meeting. However, our power did go out for a little and we had to use flashlights and lanterns to navigate around our property.
Overall, we had a great day filled with new adventures, knowledge, and BIG LOVE.
