Hola!
My name is Kyle Hobson and I am one of the Global Glimpse Leaders on the trip! Today, I also served as our Lider del Dia. Today, we woke up to an amazing breakfast including eggs, french toast, yogurt, and mango and melon juice! After eating, we packed our bags for a bus ride to Cartago, the first capital city of Costa Rica. The roads were bumpy, but after much perseverance we arrived!
We were provided with a guided tour through Cartago, checking out iconic landmarks such as Basilica de Los Angeles as well as the local market where the glimpsers were able to buy some ice cream! Glimpsers also had the opportunity to stop by a souvenir shop to buy some knickknacks. After our tour, we had lunch at a restaurant in the city and headed back on the bus to base house. Once we arrived, we found out the power had gone out, and so we headed to the local market in Aquieres for the first time where students were able to buy snacks. Prior to dinner, the group played an activity where everyone shared their name and a dance move that everyone had to remember and perform!
For dinner, we had candles lit across the tables to provide light as students conversed and enjoyed the ambiance. For our nightly meeting, I was proud to pass the torch to our first global glimpser Liders del Dia, who you will hear from tomorrow! For the photo of the day, here is all of us in Cartago next to the Costa Rican flag! Be prepared for more photos in future blogs once power is restored :)!

Glad everyone had fun without power under candle light.
Hope it’s restored quickly for the ease of the group and staff. But enjoy the lack of electricity as long as possible.
Cant wait to see the next update!

Thanks for the great write up and photos Kyle. Sorry to hear that the power went out although it seems like you all made it into a great experience both from a connection and learning standpoint. It sounds like the group is bonding and learning a lot already. We’re excited to read the blogs directly from LDDs (Leaders of the day) for the rest of the trip!
