Hello we were todays LDDs (Leaders Del Dia) for Turrialba Day 4. We woke up today at 6.30 and got ready for breakfast at 7:30. Today for breakfast we had Gallo Pinto, Eggs, Fruit (Watermelon, Pineapple, and Mango). After breakfast we left to our first destination of the day which was the Coffee Plantation called Aquiares. We were greeted by the tour guide Memo who taught us the history of coffee and many different things about it that we didn´t know. Such as, Costa RIca exporting their 1st class coffee beans to other countries and keeping the rest for them selves. We also got to meet many animals today like at the Cheese Farm we went to right after our lunch at the base house. The Cheese Farm, Finca La Florita was located in Santa Cruz which was about 1 hour away from where were staying. There we met our tour guide Karla where she showed us around her farm. We got to implement learning with fun activities such as learning how to milk a cow and turning it into a competition amongst the glimpsers. We got to see a 18 day old baby cow and taste Turrialba made cheese. We ended the day with a rainy and foggy bus ride back to our base house where we had dinner and our nightly meeting. We were able to reflect on our LDD positions and get feedback from others.
Mitzi: As LDD today I was able to get out of my comfort zone and learn to use my voice to guide the others. Although I feel like I did well, I know that I have much to improve on. I would have liked to interact with the others more and make connections with them. Overall we had a fun and exciting day and we were able to learn a lot from the tour guides.
Rob: Today was a really complicated day. I was able to guide my fellow glimpsers in the morning with the information on the day. I also had to lead the head counts and line for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Im not really the social type back in LA, but when its my time to be a role model and take charge, half of my anxiety goes away. I see it as a priority to try my best to not disapoint and make the best of my responsibility. I had a fun time leading and fidning out, that its not as hard as i thought to speak infront of others. I hope to grow from my experience and implement it into my daily life back at home.

I love that everyone gets the opportunity to be a leader. It’s a beautiful thing when you can get out of your comfort zone and level up! Don’t ever stop challenging yourself, especially when you can be a “positive” for someone else. Remember, being a positive leader is always better than being a follower, and the rewards are even greater.
