Day 4- I scream, you scream, we all scream for COFFEE!

Today, we visited the heart of Costa Rica, the Coffee Farm! Our tour guide Reynaldo showed us how Costa Rica was built on coffee and how they processed beans into the everyday coffee that we drink. Once we entered the coffee farm, we were greeted by the gentle oxen, the handler gave us to opportunity to pet them, and they were very friendly and soft. Later in the tour, Reynaldo showed us the process of making coffee, one of our Glimpser’s Lucas wore a cajuelas, a coffee basket that farmers would also wear to pick the ripe coffee beans, they have 8-10 baskets full being 28 pounds, this revealed a lasting history of Costa Rica’s relationship with coffee. Reynaldo then showed us about the storage and the packing of the coffee beans being refined, and he offered us samples of coffee drinks. After our coffee tour, we visited the central market, Mercando de Alajuela, we were strolling around the markets and shops, and most of us decided to visit a thrift shop and buy some new clothes.

When we arrived back, we celebrated one of our Glimpser’s birthday, Emma, Big Love to Emma, and I hope she has a great experience for the rest of the trip, Happy 17th Birthday Emma!!!!

We can’t wait for our new LDD leaders Natasha and Ariel to guide us in our next adventure tomorrow, stay tuned!!!
