Day 4: Labor with locals

Buenas Noches. To start off today some of us woke up early to do yoga and watch the sunrise. With the mountains setting a beautiful backdrop to start us off! With an early start of 7am, we had some comforting cereal and hit the finca (farm). With a little trouble on going to the wrong finca at first, we found our way and started our journey. At the farm, we saw the process of the aji (peppers), pepinos (cucumbers), repollo (cabbage), and papas (potatoes). We learned about the process of growing each item and also how to do organic farming. After some collecting of fruits and veggies, we headed back to la casa and cleaned up for lunch. After a hardy lunch we visited the pepino factory where we experienced an hour of labor doing packaging and cleaning the pepinos. Many of us practiced our Spanish with the workers and created bonds! After learning about all the process we all headed back for dinner. Many our us took the liberty in our free time to nap, journal, or play card games. During dinner, we experienced a new dish of a Dominican lasana, Pastalon de Platano Maduro. Lastly, we had a meeting where we went over what we did today and gave a rose and a thorn about the day (one good thing one bad thing). We did a lot of big love where we spent a whole hour giving each other big love and compliments from the day. Then we handed off the torch to the new Lider de Dia (leader of the day). After some final shenanigans, we headed to bed and quickly passed out. #firstleadersoftheday
