Day 5- Free Day (No. 4)

Today we didn’t have a wake-up call so we Glimpsers woke up at whatever time we wanted, and everyone’s faces lit up with joy since the day before we had to wake up extra darn early.  We ate breakfast on our own between 9:30 and 10:30. After breakfast we had free time, and during free time we all had the opportunity to have a 5-minute call with our families to let them know how the trip is going!! Then some people spent time in the pool and others played card games eager to see what lunch was going to be. At 12 we had lunch, and some of the food we ate was rice and pork (“mmmm” ) we also had beans, mixed vegetables, fried jelly plantains that were delicious, potato salad, watermelon, and iced tea and orange juice. After that, we got picked up by the jungle bus back to the city where everyone got the opportunity to experience how to exchange the money.  We were excited because approximately 60 pesos is a dollar, so “everyone felt rich”!!! In reality it wasn’t that much.

After that we split up into 2 groups, some wanted to play basketball while others wanted to shop. We all wanted to go to the supermercado and get a sweet treat!!! In the basketball group we played for about an hour and a half and then we went to the smoothie shop and met the workers who put on music and danced with us. Not only did they give us the smoothies that we bought but they also gave us free samples and invited us back. In the other group, we went to buy ice cream and got distracted by a small souvenir shop which some of us spent half our money.  After that, we went to the supermercado and also spent a lot of our money. We then went to a restaurant called La Tinaja. We met back up at the park and got on the jungle bus back home.

At home we did an online evaluation and enjoyed some free time. Then dinner, which was pasta alfredo, garlic bread, watermelon, ice tea and orange juice. We had to control their portions cause they are all pasta lovers!! Then we had a nightly meeting and we passed the torch to the next LDDs which are Charles and Brandon.  Free Day was fun!
