Hey friends and family!!
Today was our free day so we all woke up at different times. Last night we experienced a blackout which left us without power and no running water which continued on for the whole day until later in the evening. Our breakfast consisted of pancakes, eggs, fruit, and freshly made juice. After breakfast, we had free time where we were able to call home to our families (we miss you ). While some were calling home others were speaking to our leaders and checking in on how we were feeling about our trip so far. Later then we had lunch, which consisted of rice, chicken, beans, mixed vegetables, fried plantains, and juice.
We planned to leave for the city at 1 pm but due to the power outage, we ended up leaving at around 1:30 pm which cut into our time in the city. Once we got to the city we exchanged more money and split up into 4 groups.
Dani – In my group, we started by heading to an ice cream and frozen yogurt shop then we headed to a small clothing store where some of us got clothes. We then went into a souvenir shop called Jevy where we bought lots of souvenirs. We then left for the smoothie shop called Melaza where some of us got smoothies. We then headed back to the park which was our meet-up spot where some talked, ate their snacks, and played Uno with JC and Marina.
John – In my group, we started by going to an ice cream shop where we purchased ice cream. Afterwards, we went to the smoothie shop Melaza where we also bought smoothies. We then went to the souvenir shop Jevy where we bought little trinkets and souvenirs for our families. Afterward, some of the girls in my group went to a nail shop to get their nails done, and the people who hadn’t explored the city some more and bought more souvenirs and ice cream.
We then headed back to our accommodation where we finished our phone calls home and filled out a survey for Global Glimpse. We then had Dinner which consisted of fries, hot dogs, and juice. We then had our nightly meeting where we summarized what we did the whole day and talked about the plans for the next day.

Guess who’s back from Panama Jenesis? It’s the one, the only, better ASB Treasurer Andrew Andaya-Phillips and his little creature that I have stuffed in my luggage right now. By the looks of it, you’re having a great time in the DR and I hope your hard labor CAP goes well like mine did (our mural turned out great btw). Anyways, have fun in DR like I did in Panama and I look forward to you yapping about it to me when you return! Adios!
PS: I totally didn’t get a 3 on AP Chem and 5s on English and US History ?

It is nice to know that the glimpsers have the opportunity to enjoy the free day. Jen, please take care your sprained ankle, put ice if needed and massage it once in a while. All of you need full strength to contribute to the completion of the CAP – Aqueduct project. We miss you here, Jen, and always take care, all of you there at DR.
