Day 7: FUN DAY! (No. 11)

What’s up y’all! It’s your number 1 LDDs, Jack and Annie. Today we all woke up at 8:30. We had Ilka’s incredible breakfast where Harold, Taveras, and Ms. Deen got their first pancakes thanks to Ky and Jack’s master plan, Operation Pancake, which consisted of many backup plans. Following that, we all collectively met on the balcony and decided to create a poster about how much we appreciate them. After that, we all went to a coffee shop where a lot of us got some delicious beverages. While some stayed at the coffee shop and journaled and/or read others went to some local shops to buy stuff such as clothes, Josh’s tripod, fans, and snacks. We were having a great day, we were doing fun things, and the weather was great.

Until…

It started raining cats and dogs. Ms. Deen and a bunch of students got stuck in it including Jack, Josh, Logan, Dalexa, John, Brandon, Pam, Sapa, Adriana, Lianny, Arden, and Angi. Ms. Deen’s group started running back in the pouring rain to get back to eat Ilka’s delicious lunch which consisted of rice, and meat. Unfortunately, Jack was unable to get into his room and he had to walk around in wet clothes as Ky had the key for their room and the door was locked. However, Taveras’ group including Annie G, Amber, Ky, Stella, Isabella, Ilana, Dylan, Jane (“I didn’t want to get my camera wet” – Jane), Ani, and Nabila decided to wait out the rain for around 30 minutes but sadly it never did. The group waited it out in a large store with many items for sale. The group went through turmoil as they were deciding whether they too would go through the rain or if they would wait it out. During that turmoil, Ilana had the great idea to buy ponchos for all members of Taveras’ group at said store. After the purchase of the ponchos, Taveras’ group went back to the hotel in lighter rain where we reunited as one group again and had lunch.

Following lunch, we had more free time where some of us vibed and listened to music on the deck, others went back into town, others took power naps, Annie got drip for her friend Skyler, and Jack got bored and cleaned the pool. We all gathered at 5:00 to do a mid-trip check-in, but Paco and Zarai, the Program Coordinators, got stuck in more rain so the group vibed more. Logan learned how to wash his hair by himself, got a head massage from Adriana, and got his twists done by Ms. Deen (it looks fresh). Jane taught Dylan how to braid Annie G’s hair. Later on, Paco and Zarai arrived completely drenched so we did the mid-trip check-in. After that, we had a delicious dinner where we had chicken, fried plantains, and salad. After most had left, Dylan and Brandon tried to become Ilka’s (the cook’s) favorite when we all know her favorite is Jack. Next, we had our nightly meeting where we went over the day and passed the torch to John and Nabila while the common room became a beauty salon. After the nightly meeting, we had bonding time where we had some Dominos, Ky, and Logan got fresh looks, people played cards, and Jack and Annie G wrote the blog.

I hope everyone enjoyed the blog. It was fun to write but now I need to go play cards and Annie said she has to change her Dexcom (she is diabetic).
