Day 9 – Community Day

Hello Families,

This is Lizzie and Miranda!!

Today we went to visit and spend time with local Costa Rican families. We learned how to cook empanadas and tortillas from Costa Rica (made fairly different from what we are used to).  We also were able to speak with the locals and learn more about them and their families. After visiting the families we met up with all the groups and played soccer with the local kids while others danced. Sadly, it was cut short since it began to rain but we stopped at the store to grab some snacks then walked back to the lodge.

Lizzie: today I visited Amada’s Family and first the girls made a salad for lunch and the boys made Tamarindo juice. After we ate we were able to spend time with her family since we played some board games such as memory and monopoly. We all shared some laughs before beginning to make the tortillas with cheese and empanadas.

Miranda: Although my group didn’t go to another family, I enjoyed cooking with Liz and Laura and learning how to make the typical; Costa Rican tortillas and empanadas. I was surprised that people here eat tortillas with coffee. I was able to learn more about the family we were staying with in the lodge. Liz told me more about her studies, her parents, and her family.

After a wonderful time with the local families we played mafia with other glimpsers and had a movie night ! a classic favorite, Jumanji.

That was all for today,

Thank you
