Bueno Dias a todos!
Today was July 11th and the hosts were Kara and Cynthia. The weather was on and off, with patterns of lights showers. We decided to play the song “Cruel Summer” by Taylor Swift because it was upbeat but also fitting for the season. Once the clock hit 7:30, everyone was down for breakfast in which we had banana pancakes, fresh fruits, and scrambled eggs with the usual daily fresh fruit juice accompanied by water. This fan-favorite breakfast was made by Diego and Emilia.
Moving on, around 9 o’clock we arrived at Santa Rosa School where we met up with 4 different families who were able to share their daily lives with us. Once each group went off with their families for the day, we got to experience inspiring levels of hospitality, kindness, and patience that made our trip memorable. This was impactful since we came in with no expectations of what a Costa Rican family would be like, in short, we didn’t want to leave. It felt like another place to call home.

Doña Rosita and Don Rafael as our first group’s hosts.

Doña Olga as our second group’s host.

Carolina as our third group’s host.

Doña Miriam as our fourth group’s host.
On another note, we stayed for lunch and coffee time which we usually don’t have back in America. Helping the families cook the lunches and enjoying what they enjoy too gave a sense of warmth and a chance to engage with the process of their day. The food we had prepared together was simple yet, delicious and we couldn’t wait for seconds.

Group 1: Enjoying lunch with the family!

Group 2: Making empanadas!

Group 3: Enjoying lunch with the family!

Group 4: Enjoying lunch with the family!
As the day went on, we had dinner, made up of fried rice, a crisp salad with starfruit, and mashed beans, amazingly prepped by Emilia and Diego.

Dinner time!!!
Now to close out the day we had our Nightly meeting at 7 pm where we then passed the torch to the next Lideres Del Dia, Terrence and Brady W. Besides all the tiredness we had been through the entire day along with the quality time spent with the family today, we ended with the movie “Rio 2.”

Our next Lideres Del Dia!!!

Movie Night!
