Good Evening Families,
This morning we woke up bright and early, had a nutritious breakfast, and headed out to the community of París de Parita. We were welcomed with open arms by the lovely Eli Moreno, Raquel Pascasio, Sonia Vega, Mercedes Calderon, María Teresa Mendoza, and their families. We split into groups and followed our respective families back to their homes to hear about them and their community. There, we learned that some of the women in París (not France!) formed a volunteer organization that collects litter from the community to turn it into beautiful creations. These ranged from (very comfortable) chairs made out of tires, to flowers in all different colors made out of plastic bottles. All of the groups also got to hear about the particulars of life in the community; where they shop, learn, and receive medical care. After our immersion in the local community, we headed back to the hotel for some much-deserved rest. Afterwards, we had a scrumptious dinner and held our nightly meeting to prep for tomorrow. Finally, everyone is now winding down for the night and preparing to go to bed.
We hope you miss us!

I hope there are some pictures of the chairs made from tires, that sounds rad.

Loose translation: Hello favorite Hana person. I miss you very much. I sneaked a tasty treat and left a little bit of it in your bed for you for when you get home Hopefully, the parent persons won’t take it away before you get back, but you know how they are. Always cleaning up things they call “messes”. Do the families you visited today have cats who leave their persons presents? You know I get jealous. I could perhaps make a bigger present.

I miss you a lot! It’s not the same being up here in Portland without you. It sounds like you had a wonderful day, and those upcycling project the people are doing sound great, and just like something we would make. I can’t wait to hear all the details when you get home. I love you, Dylan!
