Hi, my name is Andy Imm, one of your Global Glimpse Leaders (GGLs). I am excited to meet and get to know you during the 13 days we have together in Panama, Chitré! I look forward to sharing our experiences and insights together as we extend to see the world through one another’s eyes.
This will be my first trip as a GGL and my first time to Panama! So far, I have traveled to about ten countries including Central America, and have also called many places home – the Heartland, Atlanta, and now the Bay Area. Aside from traveling, I enjoy moving (yoga, dancing, biking, skating) and am a big fan of the outdoors (hiking, swimming, surfing, snowboarding).
I enjoy traveling and see it as a place to challenge myself and also find nurture in nature. I have taught HS in East Oakland and now teach Algebra and Geometry to 7th – 12th graders at the Oakland School for the Arts (OSA). I cannot wait to bring back what I have learned from our trip and share it with OSA. I have also immersed myself in STEAM, integrating the arts into sciences, to seek out learning opportunities throughout life. It brings me joy to connect mathematical thinking through community arts projects. Traveling and understanding other peoples’ perspectives teaches me to be more humble, introspective, and responsible as a communicator and global citizen.
