Growing With The Community (# nature core)

Hey everyone. For today’s amazing expedition, we traveled to Club Ecológico Los Shyris, and on our arrival, we met fellow high-school students from ECUADOR! Our wonderful guest speakers told us many stories about the land of Riobamba and the ways their organization works to conserve nature within their community. We worked together in teams to bring new life into the dying ecosystem by planting new baby trees #slay. After this, we had gotten to socialize more with the new group of students even with the language barrier that faced us. (Much love to our bilingual Global Glimpsers as well as the persistence of our Spanish-only speakers reaching out to us to make connections). Some of the students even got to be a part of a sponsorship video for one of our fellow organizations that helped us with our activity. Look out for the Twitter and Instagram (we do not know it yet so stay tuned ? ) We said our final goodbyes and headed to lunch with our AMAZING cook Isabel (W Eats).

After Lunch, some of the students wanted to get some yummy snacks from the nearby convenient store. We had a lot of free time in our schedule, so some decided to take a look around the city nearby while others wound down at the hotel. We got some amazing pictures of Chimborazo, some cute dogs, and a group photo by the Riobamba sign! When it was almost time for dinner we headed straight back to the hotel to gather our belongings, and headed for Isabels. For dinner, we had some fried fish, french fries (which everyone loved; they were delicious), and some yummy salad with a nice beverage of Jamaica (which was also W eats). Once we were full, we headed back to the hotel to start our nightly meeting. We reflected on our day and about the differences in the ecological and educational state between the U.S. and Ecuador. At the end of the meeting, we passed the torch to tomorrow’s LLDs. So stay tuned for Karla and Ruth for tomorrow’s post.

Aaliyah,
It’s so nice to see you in the most recent picture because it looks like you are enjoying Ecuador. I think it’s really cool to see other students your age and hearing and seeing their experiences in another country. I am sure that you are very alike/different in many ways. Those are experiences you should hold on to and cherish because they will help you mold your future. Your mom and dad miss you very much and we hope you enjoy the rest of your stay.
p.s. I see you reppin that Raider Nation!! Love you mija!!
