Hello from the Dominican Republic!

Hello Glimpsers & Families,
My name is Sara Young, and I am from Evanston Township High School. I am so excited to meet all of you! This is my second GG trip, and I am sure it will be amazing!

I became a GGL because I always loved to travel, but we could not afford to do this type of traveling when I was in high school. I have travelled extensively visiting: Ecuador (with GG), Spain, France, Dominican Republic, Mexico, England, Ireland, and Amsterdam. While I am an English teacher by trade, I am taking a Spanish class in preparation for this trip.

Outside of teaching, I love the outdoors. I have backpacked through Alaska and taken my two small children on a rafting trip on the Green River. We spend a lot of time at the beach in Evanston in the summer.

One of my favorite books is In the Time of Butterflies by Julia Alvarez about the Dominican Republic. I would highly recommend immersing yourself in books about the DR before going because it will add depth to your experience.
