My name is Bella Truman, I’m a musical theater major at the Professional Performing Arts School and I live in Manhattan NY. I’ve spent most of my life being a hip-hop dancer up until around high school, but I currently volunteer as help for my old dance company. My whole family is from Australia, so other than my parents and my brother, my extended family lives there. I’m trying to get back into sewing and I’m planning on writing a book this summer with my dad’s help because he’s an author. I’ve been out of the country various times with my mum because she travels a lot for work. I’ve developed a great love for traveling because of the opportunities I’ve had to do it, so I’d love to pursue a career that centers around travel in the future. I applied for GG because I saw it as an opportunity to independently get in touch with life and culture that I’m not familiar with. This definitely feels like a once-in-a-lifetime chance. I want to indulge in a new experience, in a country I’ve never been to, taking the time to learn others as well as learning myself, and hopefully leaving with newfound lessons and knowledge. I’m so excited to meet everyone, see you all soon!

I am so happy that you have had the opportunity to experience life where people may not have the same lifestyle as yourself. I spent some time as a volunteer at a remote hospital in the Solomon Islands as a Rotary International member. The lack of fresh water, a hospital in need of beds and medical supplies, the deaths of children from Malaria and other diseases as well as the lack of teaching supplies as the village schools was an eye opener for me. Enjoy your lifestyle when you return to NY. Love, uncle Ray
