Student Trip Blog

Hi! (No. 30)

Hi! I’m Tai Lyn Sandhu, a rising senior Film/Musical Theatre major at the Professional Performing Arts School. Although I attend school in Midtown, Manhattan, I live in Queens. At my school, I am the vice president of the Student Council and the editor-in-chief of my school paper, the PPAS Voice. I also act in musicals and have directed 2 short films (one of which is premiering at Lincoln Center!). In my free time, I enjoy voraciously reading (mostly classics and the New York Times), writing poetry and essays, vinyl record-collecting, long bike rides, watching films (and brutally critiquing them), filmmaking, political outreach, and learning new things! I plan to double-major in political science and film/tv with a minor in journalism in college and combine the skills to direct narrative films and documentaries about social justice. I applied for Global Glimpse because I love experiencing new environments different from my own- I think it’s vital to creating empathy and understanding that people expand their worldview beyond their own bubbles. I also love learning about different governmental systems, and what better way to do so than by being in one? I have traveled to every US state and one territory (excluding Alaska), but have only traveled to 2 other countries (France and Mexico). One thing I am very excited to do on my Global Glimpse trip is my CAP project. I think it’s so cool that I get to visit a place with a bigger purpose than simply leisure, and I am glad that I get to leave a very small mark on Orosi when I return home. See you in 3 days!
