Hola! Here’s a little more about me – Wesley

Hello Global Glimpers,

My name is Wesley Hammonds and I and 1 of 2 Global Glimpse leaders that will be traveling with you to Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic this summer! Originally from Atlanta Georgia, my first international experience was an opportunity to visit Shanghai, China for two weeks through the Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation! As scary as the thought was of leaving everything I knew to travel across the world, it opened my eyes to a completely different way of thinking and I have loved traveling ever since!

I have been very lucky to have lived in 5 countries and explored 25+ countries and can attest to the benefit travel can have on young and old people alike. I decided to volunteer with Global Glimpse this summer because I want to help you experience a new culture with different types of people, mindsets, circumstances than you might see living in the Bay Area. In my opinion, traveling is one of the most powerful forms of education available and you can have fun while doing it!

Outside of travel, I work at Stanford University as a Development Coordinator and I enjoy playing basketball, ultimate frisbee, listening to live music, and the occasional Netflix & chill day. I look forward to seeing each of you develop your global perspective and I am humbled to be one of your Global Glimpse Leader this summer! I can’t wait to see you on June 6th! (Don’t forget your passports!!!)
